NICOP – National ID Card for Overseas Pakistani
Foreign nationals of Pakistan origin or Pakistan national residing overseas and their foreign-born children are eligible to apply for NICOP Pakistan.
NADRA – National Database Registration Authority is the designated authority to provide service in Pakistan and abroad to issue NICOP, NICOP renewal, NICOP rectification, and NICOP cancellation.
Pakistani citizens can take dual citizenship of 19 countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Belgium, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, and Turkey but they need to apply for NICOP if they are not residing in Pakistan.

NICOP Card is strongly recommended for people of Pakistani origins, and the reasons are obvious. The National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis allows holders to visit Pakistan without applying for a Visa. Without NICOP, people of Pakistan origin who have taken citizenship of any of the countries are considered foreigners, and thus subject to international investment and taxation laws as well. With NICOP, holders get to enjoy several tax benefits. Moreover, Pakistani origin parents can also get NICOP for their foreign-born in the USA, Canada or other listed countries.

POC – Pakistan Origin Card
If the Pakistani citizen has acquired the nationality of other than listed above country, they need to surrender their Pakistani citizenship and after renunciation of Pakistan Nationality, they need to apply for NICOP cancellation. Once their NICOP has been canceled they can apply for POC.
POC is issued to the foreign national married to the Pakistani citizen or Pakistan national who have surrendered the nationality to acquire foreign nationality or parents or grandparents of the applicant are or were Pakistani nationals. POC holders enjoy similar benefits as NICOP holders except that they are not eligible to cast vote and apply for a Pakistani passport, because they are considered as Pakistan Origin, not Pakistani citizen.
Pakistani origin, which is citizen of India, Taiwan and Isreal is not eligible for POC.
